Pine Chafer Beetle - Dichelonyx
In Westwood - elevation 5100ft, Lassen County, California, USA
April 20, 2015
Size: Body length 10mm
Since this location is in the mountains, I am thinking perhaps species Dichelonyx vicina based on comments here: (1); including this comment: "Saylor also commented that D. vicina is a mountain species only, whereas D. valida is entirely coastal."

My thanks for confirmation or otherwise.
