Framingham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
May 5, 2007
Size: about 6mm long
This has me stumped. Thought it was a moth until I had the photo in front me on the monitor. It also looked solidly metallic-winged to my naked eye, but turned out to be speckled. It doesn't look mothlike to me anymore...anyone?

A friend at Flickr has identified this as Dyseriocrania griseocapitella - mystery solved! A very odd-looking moth.
