Lily Leaf Beetle - Lilioceris lilii

Lily Leaf Beetle - Lilioceris lilii
Richmond Hill, York Region, Ontario, Canada
May 8, 2007
Size: 7 mm
They were here years ago. They were here last summer. And this season: THEY ... ARE ... BACK. *suspenseful music* Their scarlet beauty is enticing ... their innocence deceptive ... they have returned, to once more wreak havoc among the lilies in the garden!
Wow, I villanize these beetles so dramatically. But, they really can quickly turn a once-healthy stand of lilies into a sad, devastated mess and their larvae can be quite an eyesore ... and yes, this one was on a lily.
