grasshopper - female Syrbula admirabilis (Admirable Grasshopper)? - Eritettix simplex - Female
Pike National Forest, north of Woodland Park (39.048038° -105.082876°), Teller County, Colorado, USA
June 21, 2015
Meadow in open Ponderosa Pine forest,

Syrbula admirabilis is similar, but much larger,
is an adult in summer and autumn, and is not found in the mountains in Colorado (the closest I have seen one is in a grassy vacant lot in Pueblo). S. montezuma is in Teller County I think, but lower down in the Pinyon-Juniper country mostly in rocky areas. The markings on the front wings of Syrbula are a bit different, and they are also more slender with longer thinner legs.

Eritettix simplex is common in grassy areas in spring, and that's what you've got here.

Moved from Grasshoppers, Crickets, Katydids.
