Carolina Saddlebags - Tramea carolina

Carolina Saddlebags - Tramea carolina
Payne's Prairie, near Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida, USA
April 14, 1988
There were several flying over the wetlands and perching on tall stems. This is what we think of as T.carolina, with hardly a transparent area on the back wings near the abdomen and lots of black on the top and sides of the tip of the abdomen. We could almost convince ourselves that we can see the violet face the guidebooks talk about (if only we had better focus on the face).
