Moth - Dichomeris costarufoella

Moth - Dichomeris costarufoella
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
April 30, 2007
Size: < 1 cm
Not sure if this is a Tortricoidea or just a small Pyraloidea but it was striking.

Moth - Dichomeris costarufoella Moth - Dichomeris costarufoella

D. costarufoella
Both images moved from Dichomeris to new species page.

Probably 2293 - Dichomeris costarufoella (Gelechiidae)
D. copa is similar, but Hodges states the reddish-brown of the forewings is much more extensive in D. costarufoella than in D. copa. Both occur in Illinois. I'd call this one costarufoella.

Thanks
Bob. I just scan the live images but I don't think I would have recognized it in the pinned specimens even if I had looked. :(
