Synolabus nigripes or Homoeolabus analis - Homoeolabus analis - male

Synolabus nigripes or Homoeolabus analis - Homoeolabus analis - Male
Pinellas County, Florida, USA
June 20, 2015
Size: 5mm

it's the anal one

How do you tell?
I'm not questioning your determination at all, just curious how you arrived at it? I'm noticing more distinct punctures on H analis as well as a longer portion of black on the head. Are those good characters to be looking for?

Synolabus nigripes
If this is a male (rostrum seems long), then perhaps Synolabus nigripes can be excluded because there are no spines on front femora, something that might be visible from this view. But I'm having difficulty assessing that explanation because most observations don't have sex assigned; exception are pics of mating pairs but in those instances it's often hard to have a good view.

Moved, not sure which one...
