Millipede - Apheloria virginiensis

Millipede - Apheloria virginiensis
Shenandoah National Park - Big Meadows Area, Virginia, USA
June 28, 2015
We saw this millipede just over the small foot-bridge on the Rose River Loop Trail. There were actually quite a few more typical millipedes out and about all along the trail, but this was the only colorful one we saw. Looks like it might have gotten stepped on. We flipped it over to make sure it was alive, and it was, and then we moved it to the side of the trail with a stick as the trail was relatively busy. I'll post that picture too since you can see its head in that one.
