Ampedus behrensi
My specimens of Ampedus apicatus from Canada all have the orange following the midline to form an indent in the black spot along the anterior margin. Only A. behrensi (also found in British Columbia) has the anterior margin of the black spot without a knotch.

Ampedus apicalis
I'm thinking this is Ampedus apicalis...I've caught quite a few of these in Minnesota, and I've heard they're pretty widespread in Canada. I'm not completely sure BC falls into that range, but I wouldn't doubt it.

Yes, this species is present in BC, so it must be Ampedus apicalis.
