Insect or spider - Arilus cristatus

Insect or spider - Arilus cristatus
campton, Powell County, Kentucky, USA
July 5, 2015
Size: 1.5 cm
it bit my son on his neck. Red dot, swelling 1 cm diameter. Painful at 1st. Subsided and reduced with ice after cleansing area. It has been 1:30 he since bite. No other symptoms. Walks like a spider & initially appeared to have 2 body parts but in photo has 6 legs a a protuberance that looks like a small head projecting from a possible thorax. I thought bug was on its back but was walking so I believe the picture is of its back.
