But it is May, how can it be a March Fly????

We're not diptera experts
but it looks like Bibio don't get ID'd here at BugGuide past genus. We don't know what it takes to get them to species, but it must be tough, or the right expert hasn't stopped in yet!

If i recall correctly, there are around 50 Neartic species... undoubtedly most of which look similar
