Measure the Lateral Carinae - Corythucha morrilli

Measure the Lateral Carinae - Corythucha morrilli
Tonopah Desert, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
April 18, 2015
Size: 2mm Body
These are images of a Morrill Lace Bug on my finger, Corythucha morrilli. The character that defines the difference between this species and the very similar looking C. marmorata is the length and extent of the lateral carinae.
In this species, this line extends all the way across the pronotum. (behind the head) This image has a blow up insert, (on the right side) showing the pronotum area, with arrows that point at the length of this feature.

Corythucha morrilli
Though the markings on the wings are quite faded I still believe you have C. morrilli. The character you noted about the lateral carinae is correct. I like that you put arrows on the image, that will be helpful to others.
