Blowfly reared from a forensics demonstration as part of Durham Technical Community College's Criminal Justice Technology Program .

Is this Phormia regina? I, unfortunately, did not save the fly for a specimen.

Blow Fly
The first pic of the setae on the stem vein of the wing indicates that it is part of the subfamily Chrysomyinae. The coloration leads me to think that it is indeed Phormia regina, a species which can be blue or green. To know for sure, you'd have to look at the anterior spiracle on the thorax, and if the fine setae that covers it is orange, then it is confirmed. Great picture of the stem vein by the way.

Certainly in the Phormiini...
Certainly in the Phormiini... I'm not familiar enough with Protocalliphora to exclude it entirely, but Phormia seems likely... a lateral shot showing the spiracle would have been useful.
