Idiostatus? - Female
Tejon Ranch, Kern County, California, USA
May 8, 2015
Size: About 2cm not inc. ovipos
Several of these crickets in a dry fair altitude canyon in the Sacatara Canyon region of Tejon Ranch. They seem to be Idiostatus? If so probably not the "usual" aequalis.

They inhabited open scrubby ground in the valley. This area is close to the Sonoran desert biome and is dry and hot. It is adjacent to interior oak woodland but they were not in this habitat.

All of them were strikingly pale in colouration.

From my research the only two members in that genus that are close are middlekauffi and birchimi:

Based on a key at http://entnemdept.ifas.ufl.edu/walker/buzz/s104lr73.pdf they match middlekauffi in all but habitat and location.
