Lepman, this can be one of two Notodontaes, or . Both can be seen in your area. Because of the orange on the abdomen near the head and the brown tone to the tuft I tend to think this us M. unicolor, but I don't think that is diagnostic. It depends on your habitat. M. unicolor feeds on Sycamore or Cottonwood.
