Size: 42 mm
Another Giant Crane Fly, found on a wall during the day, adjacent to a lighted window. Length of body was measured at 42 mm. Span of legs, front-to-back, 80-plus mm. Looks similar to Tipula abdominalis (size, similar spots on wings) shown by Salsbury, Insects in Kansas p. 379. (1) T. abdominalis shown in that reference has a white stripe at the base of each femur, which this specimen does not.
