Cotinis nitida on lantana fruits - Cotinis

Cotinis nitida on lantana fruits - Cotinis
El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, USA
July 16, 2015
I understand that you have plenty of images of this species in the guide, but I thought there is value in providing data on geographic distribution, occurrence, and other details derived from these photos.

Moving to genus level for now.
Moved from ID Request.

I'm all for keeping these pics in the Guide...
at least a couple of them. However, in TX I am not sure how to separate C. mutabilis and C. nitida (too far removed from scarab work to remember the key features).

Thank you!
I am still beating myself up because yesterday, after taking MANY pictures of this bug, there was one that was the obvious very best; and it happens that I permanently deleted it by mistake.

If you haven't used the memory card since the deletion
there are programs available to recover deleted photos. Provided you haven't over-written the photo in question you should be able to recover it. Just be cautious that the application is legit, lots of malware out there.

Great!
I followed your advice and it worked! Thanks for your help! Unfortunately, the photo in question was damaged and it had a lot of corrupt data. Still, I found one lost picture that I liked too. I am adding it here. THANKS! I learned something new today.
