Moved from unidentified galls on elm leaves. These are mite galls, but I'm not certain whether they're Eriophyes ulmi or E. parulmi.

Name of plant?
Really need to know what kind of plant this is before we can narrow the list of suspects.

After looking through several tree identification guides, the closest ID I can come up with is that this is a type of birch.

 
I think this is an elm,
but birch is a closer match than ash and beech, which is what the other elms currently in the unknown galls section were identified as!
I'm not sure what made these galls, but see my response here for some possibilities.
