This was one of the larger local click beetles I have seen. Not as large as an eyed, but pretty big. I could not get close to it so can not give a good estimate.

genus is sound
elytral striae seem too well-marked for M. piceus. Tough genus without specimen in-hand, as examination of pronotal microsculpture is very helpful.
