Pimeliinae: Vacronini: Alaephus - Alaephus

Pimeliinae: Vacronini: Alaephus - Alaephus
3 Rivers Campground, Lincoln National Forest, Otero County, New Mexico, USA
June 16, 2006
Size: .7cm
For discussion of tribal placement look at comments under Eupsophulus.
Alaephus can be distinguished from Eupsophulus based on the acuteness of the junction between the dorsal and ventral surface of the pronotum/hypermeron. In other words, in Eupsophulus if you look at the pronotum from the side, it will appear to be rounded while in Alaephus, there is a distinc angle between the dorsal and lateral faces.
