Is there an easy way to tell the difference between these and picture-winged flies?

You have been fooled ;-)
This is a picture-winged fly (family Ulidiidae, or Otitidae by older standards). The way the wings are positioned you can hardly see the 'pictures', but they are there. Cannot tell you which genus, though.
