Cerceris bicornuta
male

Cerceris male
A splendidly colored species of Cerceris, as indicated by the knot-shaped first abdominal segment. There are seven of these segments - hence definitely a male. The female should be a good deal bigger, stouter and even more colorful.

Wasp
This is a sphecid wasp in the subfamily Philanthinae.
