Plant Bug (Mirid) - Polymerus

Plant Bug (Mirid) - Polymerus
Searcy County, Arkansas, USA
May 10, 2007
On unopened yarrow in the field behind our garden.

Seems to be a mirid, but I cannot find a match for genus ... Marvin.

Polymerus
I think it's Polymerus. It's a big genus, but that red spot on the cuneus is a strong hint.

Thank you
for suggesting Polymerus. We are well beyond my level of expertise, but after Googling around for a couple of hours -- the perils of dialup -- I think it may a Polymerus basalis. That's based upon this image found in this index. Thanks again. Marvin.

Monochrome mirids are tough to ID
That is such a typical pose! It's good to see more of these guys posted; keep at it.
