Two Spiders - Neriene radiata

Two Spiders - Neriene radiata
Henrico County, Virginia, USA
May 12, 2007
When I found these two spiders, they were together for two or three days. Now the more colorful of the two (on left in photo) is in the web alone. Were they mates and is the colorful one a female? I would really appreciate help on this. At first I thought maybe orchard orbweavers or even young argiopes but the web is too chaotic for an orbweaver.

Mates.
The one on the right is the male (enlarged palps). These are sheetweb spiders. If you look at the web and see if it is domed or bowl shaped it will help to determine species.

Thank you!
Lynette, Thank you so much for your help! I think these look like Neriene based on the photos I'm comparing them with. Carol
