Lace bug expansion - May - Corythucha morrilli

Lace bug expansion - May - Corythucha morrilli
Fullerton Arboretum, Fullerton, Orange County, California, USA
May 22, 2007
I originally posted these insects on their host plant, Grindelia, last month. The plants are larger and starting to bloom, and the population of lace bugs has spread. Fortunately, they don't appear to be damaging anything, so are pretty much left alone. I plan to keep tabs on these guys and may include a host plant photo next month.

There are increasing numbers of blossoms, and a few insects were on them today, but most remain on the leaves.

Update, written August 8, 2007
I visited the site four days ago and found no traces of the insects. I'd guess from the date of the above photo that lace bugs were around at least in early June, but I saw none in July. Most likely, I won't be reporting monthly on this any longer, but will casually monitor the site.

Update, written October 20, 2007
I saw one at the site, but on composite a few feet from the host plant. Host plants were abundant; however, I didn't see any lace bugs on them. Will check again.
