Looks and moves like a cross between a Mexican cac*tus fly and a be*e fly, which I guess would make for a couple very cross flies! But that face...

Moved from Flies. Having the face visible in these shots will likely get it down to at least subfamily at some point. Please hold off on frassing for now.

I'm guessing this as is far as the ID will go. Photos aren't too hot; think I should frass? (We have eight pages of Tachinids seeking further ID, and I vaguely recall someone mentioning that these flies are being reclassified, a process that could take years.)
