large-elytra flotsam rove - Olophrum

large-elytra flotsam rove - Olophrum
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
April 19, 2007
Size: about 4.2 mm
This use of the abdomen to help fold the wings away I have never seen on any beetle family other that Staphylinidae. If I were still undecided about family ID at this point, seeing this behaviour would cinch it for me.
