Black Beetle - Neospondylis upiformis
Dickson Sawmill Blue Slide Rd, Sanders County, Montana, USA
May 11, 2007
Size: about 20 mm
One little problem is that there were two of these in the box, and I'm not sure that this one is the same specimen as in the other two shots.

Moved from Beetles.

new genus for the guide; Neospondylis upiformis
Neospondylis upiformis (Mannerheim 1843) is one of those atypical looking Cerambycids - great. This was Spondylis until lately. Evidently, now in its own subfamily - Spondylidinae Audinet-Serville 1832.
