Large rove beetle - Ontholestes cingulatus
Harms Woods Forest Preserve, Glenview, Cook County, Illinois, USA

Size: ~16mm
We found this sitting on a leaf in an oak hickory woodland. We're thinking it might be Ontholestes cingulatus. Corrections or confirmation appreciated.
