Soybean aphid (SBA) colonization of VC soybean - Aphis glycines

This picture shows earliest that SBA infestation can occur. VC stage = the unifoliate leaves have unrolled, but the first trifoliate leaf has not. This nymph was directly deposited by an alate (winged aphid) generated on the overwintering host, buckthorn.
