Small, slow beetle - Anthrenus verbasci
Paradise, Butte County, California, USA

Size: 3mm long
Slow moving and hesitant to fly. I'd like to know if they're a pest since I keep finding them around the house.

Anthrenus flavipes
Compare. Yes, they can be a pest. While they could be simply munching dead insects in your windowsills (their favorite food) they might instead be ruining a wool sweater or fur coat or infesting your pet's open container of food.
