Snouted Fly

Snouted Fly
Richmond Hill, York Region, Ontario, Canada
May 20, 2007
Size: ~ 2 mm
Found in rotting conifer wood. It often waved its wings as some fruit flies do.
The beak and antennae look distinctive enough for some sort of ID, but I'm stumped as to where to place these images. Anyone want to tackle this one?

I'm thinking Hybotidae on this... though wait for some confirmation before moving it.

A baby step in (hopefully) the right direction: Acalyptratae
Odd mouth parts got me to looking there. Boy, do we have a lot of those flies, but none I could find looked like yours. Were I to guess further, I'd say fruit fly and, really stretching it, Cheese skippers and kin (Piophilidae).
