Coelioxys - Coelioxys germanus - Male
Oak Ridge Town Park Meadow, Guilford County, North Carolina, USA
August 6, 2015
Size: ~12mm
I suppose this is a bee, but notice the tip of the abdomen has little horn-like processes on last two segments.
Also notice three little horns at rear of pronotum.

Coelioxys
I don't study bees so wait for an expert but it reminds me of carpenter-mimic

Notice the very different wing and leg colors
Not even superficially similar

Thanks.
I am sure you are correct.
Maybe someone will nail the species.
