Discoderus impotens2 - Discoderus impotens - male

Discoderus impotens2 - Discoderus impotens - Male
Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA
August 5, 2015
Size: 8.5 mm
Here is a male collected with 20 other mostly female specimens. I left hundreds of others to roam the yard.
There isn't really any trace of iridescence, but this photo gives a false vague appearance of such.

Discoderus specimen request:
Rick, is it possible to receive one male & female specimen for study and donation? I'm working on a key and the western Discoderus is tricky taxonomically.

Yes
I'd be pleased to send you specimens. They are still arriving in very large numbers and I can collect into alcohol if you prefer.

I do not know carabids well. I used Am Beets and then your ResearchGate draft of a key to get the species ID. After you look at them maybe you will change this ID.
I'll email you.

Specimens in alcohol works
along with pencil-written locality & date label. The current Discoderus key posted on BugGuide/ResearchGate is rather difficult to use & still incomplete. I hope to remedy its deficiencies with the knowledge gained from examining more specimens and focusing more on their distinct genitalia.
