Underside - Dermacentor variabilis

Underside - Dermacentor variabilis
Pella, Marion County, Iowa, USA
May 21, 2007
Size: 1/2"
Found this guy on my wood floor this morning at 8:00 a.m. This is the underside of "it". No visible wings or other breaks in the surface of it's exoskeleton, except this one hole in the underside. Legs are short, barely long enough to reach the floor beneath it's rounded body. Sure like to know what this is!
