Is an ID possible from underside only? It disappeared into the turf when I attempted to get a topside view.

My guess is
Stink bug, Euschistus or Podisus.

This one seemed larger than the last mating pair I posted earlier this season.

 
I vote Euschistus:-)
Podisus typically has much more acute humeral (shoulder) angles than this specimen, and they are usually smaller than Euschistus, too.
