Butterfly - I was told it was a Pearl Crescent -
Phyciodes tharos

I was told that this is a Pearl Crescent, I am looking for clarification as to why it is a Pearl Crescent and not a Northern. Thank you

looks like a typical female Pearl Crescent
I doubt Northerns occur in that location. Even if they do, they should be flying in spring. The dark vs. orange antenna club tip thing only works in eastern males, (females and western males of
P. tharos
, often, or perhaps usually have them orange just like male
P. cocyta
).

I can not clarify someone's opinion, only they can.
Looks like a Northern Crescent to me since it has orange tipped clubs and merging orange markings on dorsal hindwing. Yet ventral FW and HW are strongly marked like a female Pearl.
It is helpful for ID to crop images to the "Bug".
