Eulonchus sapphirinus
You can tell its in Eulonchus by the metallic color, bulbous thorax and abdomen, and the long proboscis. The bright yellow legs and straight proboscis give this one away as being E. sapphirinus.

i could be wrong, but i think these are in the family Acroceridae... small-headed flies. there are plenty of dipterists on here who could tell you more though.

I wish I had been able to get a little more of close-up but I was concerned they would fly away and I had a bit of a hike ahead of me. I appreciate the help.

Curious... who placed this at the generic level? It's always good to mention what characters that should be looked at.
