Pretty Syrpid Fly - Toxomerus geminatus - male

Pretty Syrpid Fly - Toxomerus geminatus - Male
Thornhill, Ontario, Canada
May 24, 2007
No Ontario data for May, so I thought I'd add this. Just confirming the species.

Male
This is a male--note the narrow abdomen. The female has a more swollen abdomen and an (almost) protruding ovipositor.

You've got my endorsement for Toxomerus geminatus
but I'm no expert, and all we have in Southern California is T. marginatus.
