Photinus pyralis

Photinus pyralis
n.w. Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA
August 17, 2015
Size: TL 11mm
This is a Photinus with the following characters: (a) large size, (b) lacks dark spot on pronotum, (c) distal end of abdominal segment 5 yellowish (2nd image), and (d) occurring in the Edwards Plateau region of Texas. From my reading of Green's revision(1) and Lloyd's work(2), pyralis is the only large Photinus occurring in this region and is consistent with the above characters (although a dark spot on the pronotum is more typical).
