Caddisfly - Diplectrona modesta

Caddisfly - Diplectrona modesta
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
May 25, 2007
Size: ~7mm

Thanks Lloyd
I got an email from Don, and he told me there's still 15-20 that he still has to identify. I guess I jumped the gun with the frass. If he posts the ID's before 30 days, they will still be there, otherwise I'll repost only what he identifies.

Good...
It looks like there are some Rhyacophila and Polycentropus among the frassed images, and I hope he comes up with an ID for this one. (Though it looks like a limnephilid, so it is probably female.)

Save this one, Tom
I believe this is Diplectrona modesta. The thin, long-segmented, crennulate antennae are one of the more distinctive features of this hydropsychid.
