Maccaffertium
the importance of the the forewings in Maccaffertium are very important. This could be, pulchellum, intergrum, modestum, or mediopunctatum. Now with that said there is one tiny clue that can help. in the forewing at the base there is a wide crossvein called the costal brace or also called the humeral vein. There is the very leading edge longitudinal vein called the costal vein and next is the subcostal vein. between the costal brace and the middle of the wing I only see 3 crossveins, and in the middle of the forewing in the costal margin it is highly indented. This and the spiracular spots on the abdomen from 3-7 to me all indicate Maccaffertium mexicanum intergrum. However without a slightly dorsal view of the abdomen to show a median line like intergrum has it is difficult to say for sure. This is a online museum type collection not a hands on museum collection therefore there is some room to hypothesis. We can remove modestum only by the fact that there is a spiracular spot on the the 7th tergite, other wise I would say M modestum all day long.

But I am inclined to say Maccaffertium mexicanum intergrum

Heck there are plenty of mistakes on Bold Systems.

If Roger agrees then re-title it

Maccaffertium
Hi Alain-

I believe this female imago to be of genus Maccaffertium.

Thanks !
With this kind of photo, can I hope an identification to the species level ?

Species level guess
The black background (behind the wings in your photo) prevents me from determining the extent of crossvein crowding at the bulla, which is a key character for identifying Maccaffertium to species. Having said that, if you can be satisfied with my best guess, it would be M. modestum.

Thanks !
The next time I see Maccaffertium, I try to take pictures from different angles and backgrounds.
