Shining Leaf Chafer (Paracotalpa granicollis)??? - Paracotalpa
Mission Trails Regional Park, San Diego County, California, USA
April 5, 2011
Size: About same as fig beetle
I don't see these on your map for California and am therefore unsure of my ID of this beetle. It was feeding on a yellowish mass of decaying plant material, I do not know what the food was.

Moved
Let's leave at the genus level until a scarab expert can confirm the species; San Diego county seems a bit south for granicollis

Moved from ID Request.
