Unknown Diptera on Mistflower ??????? - Lepidophora lepidocera

Unknown Diptera on Mistflower ??????? - Lepidophora lepidocera
Mansfield, Dallas/Tarrant County, Texas, USA
August 30, 2015
Size: Approximately 1 inch
This appears to be a dipteran of some sort, but I'm completely flummoxed as to what it is. My first impression was a male mosquito of some sort, but it would have to be HUGE...like one of the Psorophora spp.
