Sexton Burying Beetle - Nicrophorus guttula

Sexton Burying Beetle - Nicrophorus guttula
Skull Valley, Yavapai County, Arizona, USA
May 28, 2007
Size: about 18-20mm
Found under an aluminum pan with about 30 "Pill Bugs" with a slight bit of moist soil remaining. The pan is a catch pan under a double cement set of sinks in the garden used to wash produce. The beetle acted dead & was folded up when first exposed, but it caught my eye & I checked it out & it wasn't crunchy....so I pocketed it & brought it in the house for photo session then released. Sorry, I for got to take a measurement, but think it to have been just under 20mm.

Not N. marginatus
I don't think that it is N. marginatus. On the underside picture, we can see that the epipleuron of the elytra are black and red, but on N. marginatus they are totally red. I mostly think that it is N. guttula, since I think I can see some pubescence on the metepimeron. If you can confirm me this caractere, N. guttula will be the good identification.

N guttula
I think is a better choice for now, so I moved them all
