Eastern Dobsonfly - Corydalus cornutus - Male
Ocala National Forest gas station, Marion County, Florida, USA
May 27, 2007
Size: +/- 4"
Got this shot at a little gas station in the middle of Ocala National Forest. If the thing had started flying, and landed on me, I think I probably would have passed out. (After screaming like a little girl)

Eastern Dobsonfly
This is a male Eastern Dobsonfly, Corydalus cornutus. The large mandibles are used for grasping the female during mating.

Thanks JD!

Not sure what it is...
...but it apparently has a newspaper background. (Sorry; couldn't resist.)

Hehe
That's where it was, and I certainly wasn't going to move it anywhere! LOL! I'll bet the guy inside was wondering why his newspaper sales were down for the day...
