Identification
cephalothorax noun - the first (anterior) body section of arachnids (spiders and allies) and also of various crustaceans. The cephalothorax is also called the prosoma. The other major body section is the abdomen, perhaps more accurately called the opisthosoma. Appendages and other features of the the cephalothorax include the legs, eyes, chelicerae, and pedipalps. The female genital opening, useful in species identification, is the epigynum. See the diagrams:
