Dragonfly - Aeshna canadensis

Dragonfly - Aeshna canadensis
Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, Canada
September 10, 2015
Size: approx 1.5 inch
found dragonfly in a concrete trench in the morning of 10 September. I think it may be a type of darner? The image has been shrunk down quite a bit

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

darner it is
looks one of the Aeshna darners although I'm not sure which one. Confusing bunch

Thanks
Thanks Steve, I am not finding many images available for Nova Scotia and sending the images to the correct people at the NS museum is not easy due to not being able to attach images.

Cheers

Aeshna
If one gets a nice shot of the side of the thorax they usually aren't confusing. If I had to guess I'd say A. canadensis.

Thanks
Thanks Larry,I will endeavor to get good side shots whenever I can . This one was in a narrow cable trench so I could not get low enough. I will check info on canadensis

Cheers
