Spider ID and behavior explanation request - Maevia inclemens - male

Spider ID and behavior explanation request - Maevia inclemens - Male
Fitchburg, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
May 27, 2007
Size: about 0.25 inches
This spider would stop and 'stretch' out his two front legs like he was trying to pick up a 'signal'. He did this a couple of times before this one (http://bugguide.net/node/view/113876) showed up, apparently scaring the original spider.

Nice
images of adult male Maevia inclemens.
My guess is he was courting with the female Habronattus and scared her away. The male probably would have realized it was the wrong species if the hab stuck around.
