May 30, 2007 - Large-"palped" Mosquito Larva - no, "antennaed" - Culex
Richmond Hill, York Region, Ontario, Canada
May 30, 2007
The focus in this image is on the larva, which appears to be different from the other fourth-instar larvae in having especially large palps. The fanning action of the palps almost resembles that of the rotifera (which themselves are probably among the larva's food?)

not palps
those are the larval antennae. Good observations man. I will get back to you on those mosquitoes

Thanks, Omar.
I did hesitate at using the word "palps" - thanks for reminding me what they really are! I look forward to finding out what these larvae turn into.
